As reported earlier, the driver claimed to police that Campbell, 39, assaulted him from the back seat of a luxury SUV; when he pulled over to call 911, she hopped out and ran away. The 27-year-old chauffeur was hired for the day to drive Campbell from her hotel to Astoria Studios (where many TV shows and movies are shot) in Queens, New York. The man told authorities that Campbell "hit him from behind and his head struck the steering wheel," the Associated Press says. He suffered bruising under his right eye. Police were "looking to speak" with Campbell about the incident; her assistant went to the station house to talk with officials on her behalf.

    All in All its looks like Naomi Campbell won't be adding another offense to her rap sheet. The chauffeur who claims the supermodel slapped and hit him (using her cell phone) during a Tuesday afternoon drive in Manhattan has decided not to press criminal charges, the Associated Press reports. After consulting with the district attorney's office, police have filed a harassment report, which carries no penalty (no officers witnessed the alleged attack); no arrests are anticipated. Still up in the air: whether the driver will sue the catwalker in a civil case. "There shouldn't be a rush to judgment," her rep told UsMagazine.com Tuesday. "Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye."
